Jean-Olivier Bacquet

Double Bass

Jean-Olivier Bacquet was born in Douai. He started studying the bass with Jean-Loup Dehant at the local music academy. He was admitted at the national music Conservatoire in Paris where he attended the class of Jean-Marc Rollez for the bass, Maurice Bourgues and Alain Meunier for chamber music. He graduated in 1999 (diplôme de Formation Supérieure). At the same time, he trains as a singer with Jaccqueline Bonnardot.

He learns to play with orchestras, with various institutions: Orchestre de Bretagne, Orchestre National des Pays de Loire, Orchestre de Picardie…He is recruited at the Caen Chamber Orchestra and in 2002, joins the National Orchestra in Lille as well as l’Orchestre National de France, where he also carries out teaching activities. He regularly plays with the Pelléas Chamber orchestra, conducted by Benjamin Lévy.

He joined the Octuor de France in 2010 to pursue his passion for chamber music.
